The day was blisteringly hot but fortunately we had two lovely large marquees to shade all the stalls courtesy of the ladies at Now & Then Events.

The live rockabilly band the 'Memphis Cruisers' were incredible - everyone commented on how good they were, and when Paula Marie 'The Vintage Vocalist' sang she sounded so authentic most assumed it was a record playing 1940s songs. We even had some proper dancers showing us some moves and the whole atmosphere was fantastic.

As well as the stall kindly manned by Bernie (manager of the New Road side St.Gemma's) in aid of the Hospice, almost twenty other Leeds and Yorkshire based traders came along to sell their vintage goodies including
- Saltaire based shop Horsley & Henderson
- Rose & Brown Vintage
- Truly Vintage UK
- Shipley based shop Peacock Blue Vintage
- Aunty Amy's Attic
- A little touch of vintage
- Parlour Millinery by Melissa Dawson
- Retromade Items
- Salmagundy
- Wave of Nostalgia
- No Stripping Studio
- Tanz's Vintage Tearoom Gifts

Vanessa from the hair & beauty salon next door ( was there painting nails a classic vintage red, alongside the talented Natalie offering vintage hair and make-up ( and last-minute volunteer Priya painted lots of faces.

Despite the heat everyone seemed to enjoy the tea and scones on offer from the Marvellous Tea Dance Company, and Babie's Bakery nearly sold out of her mouth-waterinngly amazing 'eat-me' cupcakes.

This was the first event I have ever organised so I was really pleased with the turnout and support, and of course with how much we managed to fundraise for such a good cause. Sign up to the RJVs newsletter or become a fan on facebook to stay up to date with future events....
